thinking day…
Feb 27
today was girl scout thinking day – a day for all girl scouts to honor other countries. jette is a third grade brownie and her troop chose “denmark” as their country. they served danish rice pudding and wore cute little danish outfits. elle is a K daisy so her troop acted as “tourists” and toured all of the booths, sampling all of the yummy food. over 300 people participated! i was never a girl scout, so i am totally into this. all of the moms in jette’s brownie troop make fun of me because i make jette wear her vest – i’m all about the uniform! i am proud of her and proud of this organization – teaching girls confidence, independence and most of all, how to establish lasting friendships. both troops are amazing – a wonderful group of girls and a truly spectacular set of parents. i have no doubt that the girls and i have made lasting friendships. the troops are run like a co-op, each parent takes a month and leads the meeting. we have so much fun - the girls have learned about composting, recycling, decorated pretty cookies, tidepooling, a fancy valentine’s day tea and next week is a self-defense class. they dressed up in crazy pink clothes and cheered on the breast cancer three day walkers (THREE of our moms walked), caroled at a retirement home and helped sell baked goods for haiti. and it’s only february. no doubt that these girls will grow up with awareness, compassion and the valuable lesson of how to be a true friend.

Katie’s K Daisy troop went bowling yesterday – red petal! I love scouting too, especially for the confidence building aspects. I am teaching badge workshops for all the scouts at the Plymouth Community Arts Council this spring. Can’t wait….wish you were here; one is the Jewelry Junior badge!
