a fun new jewelry give-away…stop by and take a look!

Mar 16

yes, it’s give-away time!  that means free jewelry!  who can resist?

the topic for this give-away is “sharing.”  i must say “share” about 50 times a day to my kids.  share this, share that.  sigh.  it gets tiring – but it’s the right thing to do, right?

well i have to admit there are some things i like to share and some things…well, NOT!  these are the things i like to share: hugs and kisses with my kids, chips and salsa with friends and memories with niels.  here are some things i don’t like to share:  my favorite chocolate truffle bar from trader joe’s, my last bite of a carne asada burrito and my tooth brush.

as you know, i was recently in vegas.  lisa and i played black jack at imperial palace and the guy sitting next to me told me that he had a four month old daughter and a two year old daughter.  he said his wife was in minnesota with his daughters and that she was probably tired because the baby had recently been sick.  i could relate.  so i told him i would send his wife a necklace gratis – her treat for holding down the fort.  i did and it felt good to share!

then yesterday, i bought a chocolate bar at trader joe’s while shopping with all three kids.  i slid it into the basket, stashed it in the cabinet at home and waited for them to go to bed.  after they went to bed, i stealthily crept into the kitchen, pulled it from its hiding place and gobbled the whole thing up in two seconds flat.  yum!  i felt guilty for not sharing with my kids…but it sure was delicious.

so what do you like to share and what do you not like to share?  be honest…the winner gets a $75 give certificate – deadline is tuesday, march 23rd…c’mon, have some fun and tell your friends.  the more the merrier!

Love the imperial palace necklace…might have to be my next purchase!!!

So Sharing….l agree with you Zoe…my favorite thing in the whole world is sharing hugs and kisses with the kids. Lately, I have learned to share all my food with my 6 month old Kingston…he eats everything and anything! I keep telling myself maybe I will get thin in the next few months from Kingstoneating everything on my plate! (it’s usually the only way to keep him quiet) I usually don’t share food, but I would share anything with Kingston!

I too have a chocolate stash in the freezer that I are OFF LIMITS! Usually kit-kats or butterfingers! I usually don’t like to share my nail clippers b/c if someone else (my husband) uses them I can never find them again! I like my own bottle of Shea butter lotion, my expensive shampoo/conditioner, and my lip gloss!

Other than that I find myself to be very flexible and find myself sharing everything I have! Sort of don’t have a choice when you’re married and have kids! XO

I am so glad to hear that I am not the only one that eats chocolate after the kids go to bed! This is so great. Sharing just seems to come natural to us mammas, but for sure I have certain things that are just MINE! The first thing I can think of is my mascara. As a mother of three, I am more often than not, putting my make-up on in the car. I do have 2 sisters that occasionally come over and need to “borrow” my make-up.. its all ok.. until I catch one of them with my mascara! Spare me the eye mites Please!
I don’t mind sharing the bed…. and yes, I have too…but, I don’t like to share my pillow. It’s just one of those things that I like to ball up and stick under my head and not worry about if someone else has enough room or not=). Even if I get 3 inches of the bed, at least give me my pillow;-).
For the most part, I love to share, it makes me feel good inside=). Sharing is caring.. just don’t mess with my macara!

It’s been hard for me to think of things that I don’t like to share. The one thing I like to share is my day. Even though most of my day is trivial I like to talk to Travis (my husband) each night about what the kids did that made me laugh or scream or be proud. I am grateful that I get to stay at home and share my day with them so I want him to feel a part of it too. I also like to share my day with my mom or my mother in law or my good friends about my day. I feel more connected as if they are with me each day. Often times people ask me if I still see my friend Sharon from high school. I love knowing that I can usually tell them what she had for lunch that day or what her plans are for the weekend. When we share our days, the 600 miles between us seems to disappear. After some thought, I don’t like to share my drink at dinner, a really good bottle of wine with more than one other person, and my Tagalong cookies (my freezer stash).

Love sharing my walks with my dear friend Valerie. She has helped me throough a rough year and she never offers me “solutions” like my husband…she just laughs with me about all the stress and we make up ways that the situation could have been worse…”well at least the tow truck driver didn’t stink”. I don’t like to (and won’t) share my Pantone design markers. Everyone always wants to use them for school projects cause they ARE way better than crayolas. And the colors are amazing…the lightest blues and violets you ever saw, 4 peachy skin tones (always in high demand), 10 values of cool and warm greys… But I’ve had them and protected them since 1988 when I spent an entire month of waitress tips purchasing them. No touchy!!!!!!

What I love about my friendships is how we all bring different strengths and wisdom to the table. One of my favorite joys is a monthly coffee date with my incredible friend Dawn. She is a gorgeous fashionista who makes her living as an accountant. I am a casual Levi’s wearing creative type who dablles in marketing. We both have young kiddies so that is always a great source of compatibility. We are so different but our hearts are forever intertwined. Our “State of the Union” meetings are priceless!” What are those, you wonder? It is our safe haven for a fabulous stream of counsciousness where we share our joys and triumphs, hilarious stories and embarrasing foibles. It is truly better than theraphy! We leave these “sessions” feeling light and airy, youthful and refreshed. We may not have solved all the world’s problems but we sure feel good about ourselves afterward,

I cracked up when I saw Zoe’s photo of theT.J.’s truffle bar. It is my hands down favorite treat. As soon as my daughter goes to brush her teeth after dinner, I secretly rush to the cupboard, grab a huge piece of the bar and greedily gobble it down. My busband are known to fall down in hysterics at this ridiculous hypocricy. Chocolate is indeed the one thing that I will not ever share!

PS: I also LOVE sharing my best kept shopping secrets — tops on my list : Three Sisters Jewelry! If I ever am fortunate enough to win your contest, rest assured there will be a long line of new devotees who proudly wear your gorgeous bling. :-)

oh goodness: after re-reading my entry, i found so many typos. SORRY, i definitely need more coffee. :-)

I love sharing giggles and kisses with my kids. It is contagious. I also really love to share their Macaroni and Cheese, Lexie will always fall for “Look over there!” and when she does I steal it and some tater tots too. Frankie is not so gullible, he guards it with his life. I love that the most boring thing or toy that has not been touched in ages suddenly spawns a lecture about sharing once one of them decides to play with it. Once the one touches it, you would think it was a pot of gold the way the other has to have it! I resort to singing the Yo Gabba Gabba song about sharing, that usually works so they start singing and dancing too. I like to share, anything but ice cream. I don’t know what it is about someone taking a lick off of it, maybe it is the thought of what they left behind but to this day my mom will ALWAYS do it to me, leaving me no choice but to tell her she can have it. Maybe that is her old trick to get my ice cream, and I still fall for it!! DOH!! The tables have turned….

I’ll share my chocolate. I’ll share my smile.
I’ll share some stories if you’ll sit awhile….
I’ll share your sorrow when you need a friend,
or both left feet if you want to dance……..
But I will not – cannot -do not dare -
share that number on the bathroom scale.
Don’t even ask. I will not tell!

  9. Robyn says

I LOVE to cook and love entertaining so sharing my meals and my time with good friends. I also like sharing my husband’s handiness abilities with my friends who have handy-challenged husbands (heehee), many friends will call and ask if Joe can come to the rescue to fix something. I’m proud that he is so talented in the home repair department (this isn’t even what he does for a living) as I’m finding many of my friend’s hubbies are not so much. I love sharing my heart with my husband. I am a part-time Yoga and Pilates instructor/trainer and I LOVE sharing my knowledge in these disciplines to help empower individuals. But most of all, I love sharing my time with my two little boys…goofiness is a way of life at our house and sharing silly dances, funny faces & imaginary stories are number one on my list of things I love to share.
Now, if I get a piece of chocolate cake for dessert or especially if it’s a slice of the Ultimate Chocolate Cake from Jimbo’s Naturally’s bakery department, DON’T even ask if you can smell it, I will NOT share even a lick! I will hide the chocolate heavenliness in a cabinet and just like you Zoe, wait for the right time to carefully take it out so I can relish in my chocolate alone time! I feel a little guilty but only when my husband busts me! I don’t really like sharing my Chapstick either but will if you have chapped lips. But that’s about it, I think that because I grew up with three sisters, I didn’t really have a choice but to be a good sharer and that’s a good thing!

  10. Robyn says

Forgot to add a big thank you for offering (sharing) this contest Zoe, thank you!

I am a person who enjoys making things….hand made cards, painted rocks and jewelry. I love to share the things that I have made, it feels nice to give away something that carries a little bit of your own personal energy.
One of my all time favorite treats if a trip to Extraordinary Deserts on Union St. Everything is so beautiful……the place, their little selection of decadent gifts and of course those incredible, flower adorned cakes. I can never finish an entire piece myself and so there is always a little bit I take home in a box. The next day, after I have looked forward to my left over treat all day, I take out the little morsel…..and you better believe that I am in no mood to share!

  12. Zoe says

    the cakes sound beautiful!

The thing I like to share is the exact same thing that I don’t like to share, and that is my time.

I LOVE to share my time with those people that I care about.

When I get home from work, I love sitting down with my 1 year old and playing whatever game he wants to play. The adoring smile he gives me makes me feel like the best mom EVER.

After he goes to bed, I love to share dinner and a glass of wine with my husband. Our conversations about our day, the current news, our favorite TV shows, the silly things our child has done just makes me so happy and reminds me exactly why I married him.

Other days, I love chatting for hours with my friends. There is nothing better than a good meal with great friends. I always come away smiling and feeling refreshed.

On the flip side, I have difficulty spending my time with anyone that is negative or a bit of a Debbie Downer. That’s not to say I’d avoid my friends if they were having a rough day, I’m always a willing listner for those I love. I’m talking about those people that are ALWAYS negative and whatever their experiencing is ALWAYS the worst thing that anyone could ever be experiencing. If you’re having a rough day because you’re dog died, their day is worse because their pet goldfish died AND they got a papercut. Know what I mean?

On a slightly less “deep” level, I love to share belly rubs and a good game of tug-o-war with my dog. I love to share my “knowledge” with my son and show him how to do amazing things… like turn on the dishwasher (his current favorite activity). I love to share snuggles and hugs. I even love to share my ice cream because who isn’t happier after a bite of ice cream?

I don’t like to share my clothing (because sometimes it never finds it’s way back into my closet) and I don’t like to share my hairbrush or toothbrush… or any personal grooming tools for that matter.

Now that I am growing older, I’ve found that I still love to share time with my children – it is something that never ends you will all find. As they have grown older their time is more precious to them as it is and to me.
My purchase from 3 Sisters was my share and gift to my daughter for her birthday last year.

I love the idea for this contest. It’s been really nice to have had something that has encouraged me to spend my quieter moments thinking about sharing- thank you.

I love sharing walks on the beach with my dog but I don’t like to share my pillow with him.

I love sharing a road trip with girlfriends but I prefer not to share a ride to work (my sacred fifteen minutes of solitude).

I love sharing smiles with strangers but it’s not easy for me to share painful things with people that I don’t know well.

Other random things that I love to share: a tent with my husband, good news, a bottle of wine with an old friend, a big bowl of popcorn, group hugs with my husband and two toddlers, favorite recipes, a sled with my kids, and laughter with truly anyone.

  16. Zoe says

SO many great entries… love them all. roadtrips, tents, chocolate, kids… the fun things in life. thank you everyone for taking the time to write. so inspiring and cool to hear about people and their lives. love it!
