We give - I mean our tooth fairy gives - the gold dollar coins (just one per tooth). We never get them in change from the store, so the kids alays thought it was special money only from the tooth fairy -

That is so cool that she looked to Jette for approval. Wow, that says so many things - not the least of which is that Jette is fulfilling the big sister role in a mightly fine way. Ahhh the confidences to come. So sweet.

I remember Julia's first tooth lost. I thought I was so clever by sprinkling pink fairy dust all over her dresser and by her bed. I then used a Barbie doll to put fairy prints. Of course doing this in the dark at night I didn't realize what a mess the tooth fairy made. Julia was really most excited about the loot and just commented on the mess the fairy made. i believe the next time she even wrote a note for her to try not to make such a mess. Speaking of the loot - we had the same problem as Riff. She lost her tooth late at night and all we had was $5.00. We tried to explain that this must be because the first tooth is so special. Unfortunately, Julia determined it was because she was 5 years old. As she has grown, she continues to think that the amount is reflected by her age and anxiously awaits it. ugh what happened to the days of a quarter???

So cute!!! Frankie lost his first tooth a while back, and I had no idea how to be the tooth fairy! Should be easy- put the tooth under the pillow and when he is sleeping switch it out for some money. Reality- All I had was a $5 (high rolling tooth fairy, has set a precedence for future pay out...) and taking out a tooth from under the pillow without waking the child is equivalent to rocket science, then being able to put the money under??? AND get out of the room quietly?! Comedy of errors, me kneeling beside the bed and having to duck every time he stirred, dropping the tooth under the bed when I finally got it, and using a hanger to push the money under the pillow from the doorway so I could make a quick exit. Rewarded myself with a nice glass of wine after, and called my mom to commend her on her tooth fairy skills! Everyday is an adventure with kids!!

Makes me weepy - must be hormones. Katie has her first loose tooth and I want it to stay right there in her little teeny mouth - no growing up :) LOVE the look on her face when it came out - almost like she didn't believe it would really go! Wonderful photos...
