My name is Zoe - welcome to my blog! This is my little corner of the world and I am inspired by beautiful things. I grew up and still live in Sunny Southern California. I am mom to three young girls (10, 8 & 4) and wife to a super-cool and funny husband. We like to camp, listen to music, eat good food and basically have fun. donuts…

we let the girls pick where they wanted to eat for their birthday breakfast  – of course DONUTS were the breakfast of choice.  so we trekked to VG donuts on saturday and sunday morning.  we always go to VG donuts – an institution of a donut shop in cardiff-by-the-sea.  i have been going to VGs since i was about four and have ordered the chocolate old-fashioned for the past 37 years.  i’m a creature of habit but it doesn’t hurt that their chocolate old-fashioned are the best you’ve ever eaten.  if you live on the coast you know there is a north v. south donut war going on.  VGs v. Leucadia Donuts.  i’m a VGs loyalist and i’m breeding the girls to be the same.  i love seeing the surfers stopping for a donut after their dawn patrol, the salty old guys catching up with each other at the tables and the new generation of kids pressing their noses against the case.  it’s a feel-good kind of place.  so familiar.  jette, brittsy and i ordered the same donut each morning.  niels and elle are the rogue-donut-eaters, eating what strikes their fancy.

    MMMMMMMMM – Steve was looking over my shoulder when this came up and he’s on his way downtown now…for a donut!!!! When we lived in Rochester, there was a little donut shop right on the main corner with chrome and naugahide counter stools in the big picture window. Steve used to take Ty there when he was 2 to people watch on Saturday mornings with their donuts – there was always a dog or two tied to the parking meters, waiting for their owners to come out with donut doggy bags!

    VG’s! if I were there it would be a blueberry buttermilk bar, jon = apple fritter. Miss you, miss SD, miss VG’s miss it all!

    oh boy, I think I’m gonna have to make a trip to VG’s now! we love them too and have gotten many birthday cakes there…deeeeeelicious!

    I have to agree with you on VG’s being the best. Not on my food plan now but I used to take you there when you were very small zoe. Next time you go, have a second chocolate old fashioned for me!
