lisa & zoe = photog partners for life!
Apr 9
i was on the verge of quitting photography – just OVER it. i had burned myself out, was lacking creative juice and i was tired… jewelry had sort of taken over my life. i decided it was time to scrap the photography business and just keep current clients and friends. shut down the site and be done with it. and then i met lisa. she salvaged my burned-out photog soul and drug me back – breathing new life and energy into my perspective. now i am more stoked than i have ever been on photography! yeah! we are in the process of revamping the studio. actually, lisa is. she has done all of the work. but anyway, we are on the same page. we don’t want to be the biggest, bestest photographers in the west – we just want to have fun, love the families we work with and do our “thang.” i will not deny that i have difficulty balancing the two with my family and my social life – but i do love photography and it’s opened a new world for me. so i think i will stick around a while. while we were hanging the new signs last week she snapped these pix of me. i look pretty happy. thanks lisa!
best wishes, zoe

well… it sounds like we owe lisa a big “thank you!” having you do our family pictures every year is one of those things i can no longer do without. i always look forward to seeing the finished product and am amazed at how well you capture the individuality of each of the kids. we get so many compliments on the pictures you take and i know we will always cherish having them. so… i’m excited about the new changes, but also thankful that it’s still you behind the lens. i don’t know how you balance it all either, but i’m glad you find a way. can’t wait to see the new studio! we may have to schedule our photo session much earlier this year, just to get a sneak peak at the space.

Zoe, I had no idea you had burned yourself out with photography. I’m glad you had Lisa to encourage you to find your creative self again. Who can take such beautiful pictures of asparagus? Pictures that make you want to love asparagus as much as you do. You ARE truly a talented photographer (blogger, jewelry maker, and fashionista) What would we do without your talents? Life would be so creatively empty. THANK YOU LISA!!!!!

thanks “amys!” so kind…. i kind of learned that i was doing what i thought i should be doing, instead of what i wanted to do… sounds simple enough, right? i guess it took me 40 years to figure that one out. ha!

in your 40+ years, i’ve never known you to throw in the towel, zoe. besides you are entirely too talented to not use your gift. nobody can capture the essence of a child like you can. love the pictures of you. not many pictures of you are taken because you are always behind the camera.
Zoe says
yes, i have a bit of tenacity in me
thanks linders… and yes, it is kind of nice to have some pix of me. i didn’t realize how important “mom pix” are until my mom was gone. i make an effort to get those special “mom pix” during our session… really for the kids!

hmmm. i don’t seem to remember the story this way, but it is just like you to be so modest and kind. i would like to think that i had some hand in being inspiring, but I can’t seem to think of a single thing that i did. maybe we can agree to say that together we were able to prop each other up and find some exciting new avenues in portrait photography…. like vegas… and escondido… oh, and i found a workshop in ny! wanna go?
thanks for the credit though… i am looking forward to more fun times working together!
Zoe says
no, it’s actually like YOU to be modest and kind… and by the way, so proud of you for making your first ever blog comment. so honored! tee hee hee.
