behind the scenes – part II

Jun 30

we like to keep ourselves entertained…. we crack ourselves up and laugh A LOT throughout the day.  i am LUCKY the ladies “get” me (or maybe they pretend to and then snicker behind my back), regardless i am blissfully happy that i get to laugh every day over silly stuff.   here are some snippets of conversation:

* frida kahlo is cool because she boldly rocked the unibrow

* we heart dexter.  probably too much and to an unhealthy degree

* lunch is served while watching true blood on monday – team erik wins by a landslide.  we are patiently waiting for true blood action heroes.  do you hear us mattel?

* we are learning the fine art of voodoo.  some people have left us no choice

* we love the name “max.”  “christopher?”  not so much.  stamping has changed our perspective on naming your child, just ask us

* we eat a new food each week – we have had cuban, turkish, mexican, peruvian, chinese, jamaican.  next up?  indian.

behind the scenes – part I

Jun 29

we try and keep our sanity while we pound metal all day.  how do we do this you ask?  well…. lots of ways!  recently, we celebrated jessica’s college graduation by wearing dexter masks and drinking mimosas at 9am.  then we stuffed our faces with azucar’s cuban pastries and fell into food/drink comas.  so fun!  more fun times to come…

hangin’ with elle…

Jun 28

jette and britt were both busy and so elle and i had some special time together.  asked her what she wanted to do and she said “go to the mall.”  what?!  i was just there!  two times within a few days of each other – that’s more than all year?  i couldn’t figure it out.  why the mall?  i’m not even sure if elle has been to the mall.  so i said “sure” (twist my arm!) and off we went.  i figured it out once we got there.  her sister got a cool webkinz in DC while she was at the “mall.”  oh, i get it.  darn.  thought she was into shopping.

turning one…

Jun 27

today my little nephew quentin (“Q”) turned one.  he’s a slice of sunshine – so sweet, so happy and FUNNY.  his little personality is so cool.  i think that is evidenced  by his birthday cake – a TOASTER!  who has a toaster birthday cake when they turn one?!  cool in my book.  veronica’s goodies made the amazing cake – it was delicious!  organic, moist, delish and the first fondat that i ever tasted that was actually scrumdillyumptious! but funny enough, Q doesn’t have a sweet tooth so he stared at his cake.  i had my camera all ready for the big first birthday mess.  darn.  it was a no-go.  so, i sneaked some extra bites when no one was looking.  happy birthday q-bert!

just can’t help myself…

Jun 26

i don’t get out much.  and when i do, well sometimes i am a bit impulsive.  i am a true contradiction – very practical, yet…NOT.   my friend and i went to the mall today.  i haven’t been to a mall in about 10 months – i just don’t have the time.  but we decided we needed some retail therapy to kick off the summer and went shopping and to lunch.  so what do i do?  buy sparkly, glittery things that really don’t fit into my lifestyle.  really, i should have bought flip-flops, jeans and t-shirts.  but well…. i couldn’t help myself.  they were so pretty, fancy and irresistible and my wardrobe desperately needs a face lift.  i love them.  they’re so pretty.  bling-a-ding-ding.  sometimes you just have to go for it!

this was only a few minutes of my life, but perhaps one of the happiest.

camping…

Jun 25

we thought we would kick off summer with a camping trip to the silver strand in coronado.  we went with our buddies and well….we had a fabulous time!  the kids played, and played, and PLAYED.  it was so fun!  i was a little hesitant at first to go – it was a lot of work for just two nights.  but it was worth it!  and thank you deb h for the great idea to start a journal of our adventures…a new tradition!

welcome home jette!

Jun 23

it’s been ten long days…jette has been on her adventure in washington DC and i’ve done my darndest to think happy thoughts, independent thoughts, “letting go” thoughts… it’s not so easy.   but yes!  we were so excited that jette is finally coming home.  you don’t realize how much a role a person plays in the family until they’re gone for a long period of time.  jette is the one i ask for help all the time (probably unfairly), the one that i depend on (probaby unfairly), the one that helps me (probably unfairly) and talks to me about important things.   we are close and i missed her terribly.  in fact we all did.  when i pulled up to the curb to pick her up – she was standing there in her little outfit with her suitcase and backpack.  my world traveler.  I was so proud of her!

yeah! so fun! a photo shoot….san diego high school senior photographer – so fun!

Jun 21

i had one of my favorite types of shoots today – a high school senior!  i love, love photographing high schoolers – it’s seriously fun.  it didn’t hurt that she’s gorgeous, sweet and wildly talented (a dancer attending a performing arts school!).  yeah – fun for me!  here is a sneak peek – randomly chosen pix…. wish i could post them all because she’s ravishing!
