a penny for a memory…
Jun 2
i put a lot of value on memories as well as creating memories. i’m a super sentimental person and my friends know they can count on me to always cry with them. i have worn water-proof mascara since my mom died because i tired of removing the smudges under my eyes on a daily basis. there are a few objects sitting around my house that always spur a spontaneous cry. my mom’s penny key chain is one them. she collected smashed pennies from her travels and put them on a ring. a compact, memory-filled treasure she carried with her. the girls and i carry on this tradition – we add pennies to the memory ring as we continue our travels without her. although i have no doubt she is with us in spirit.

I love this idea, I have so many of those pennies in random places! I’m going to copy this idea if you don’t mind… plagerism is the highest form of a compliment, right?

Beautiful sentiment! Can’t talk too much on Mother’s or I’ll have to be scraped up off the floor but I so respect you for the way you honor yours. Like me, you obviously had a phenomenal and unforgettable Angel who brought you here! And yes, they are still with us wherever we go, whatever we do! =)

Great idea! Was just looking at a pile of these in my son’s bedroom (yesterday!) and was trying to figure out a cool way to display them. One question though … how do you get the holes in the them? And I’m with you … did not shed many tears in my younger days, but that has really changed as I’ve aged. Most days, I skip the mascara all together (but will never skip lip gloss or jewelry–hee! ). On the reverse side, I laugh a lot easier now too!

My boys make these wherever we go – even as big boys – never thought to do this with them – what a great idea – your mom was just so creative – and I always wear waterproof – because you never know…! Happy, sad, booboo, hormones…..
