something pretty to start the day…

something that my mom taught me that always sticks with me is this…. everything you bring into your life should be pretty and interesting to look at. if it doesn’t “move” you then move on…. she would sprinkle parsley on every single meal we had because, well….food always needed a dash of green. she was always decked out in jewelry because, well…..adornment is so fun and interesting. and always have fresh flowers, shrub cuttings or whatever is in your budget because…nature should be brought inside. this lesson has served me well because i love interesting and pretty things – it can cost 25 cents or it can cost a million daughters. it doesn’t have to be costly to be pretty. if it appeals to me, well then i love it. my latest treasure is a $3.95 coffee mug i got on the bargain table at anthropologie. i feel better drinking my morning coffee in a pretty mug. so pleasing.

Your mom was wise…I agree. I bet your coffee tasted better in your beautiful new mug. Oh I love Anthropologie! So great to see you and Brit.

love the mug Zoe, it’s beautiful! i did the exact same thing earlier this year (except for my tea, been trying to kick coffee). i still LOVE drinking from my beautiful anthropologie mug, you got a better deal though, mine was $10!! i actually went back and got another one (same style but different colors)…can’t have a friend that might drop in last minute drinking out of a “not as pretty as mine” mug!!

I love these kind of blog entries…little tidbits of life, and an appreciation for the small, beautiful and oh-so-fun little things. These are what make life so special, and I think it’s so important that we all take time to appreciate the small stuff. Thanks for sharing—and, by the way, I love those books you’ve got your pretty coffee mug sitting on. More beautiful things…
I think I’m going to have to make a trip to Anthropologie this weekend to take some time to appreciate those small things. : )

i love the books too! they belonged to my mom – i have some other neat old copies of Alice in Wonderland. Thanks for the idea to take pix for a future blog entry.
