the girls went to their grandma and grandpa’s for a few days and came home with the most amazing easter eggs!  their grandma makes it a tradition to make extravagent eggs, so every year they come home with something fancy.  this year was no exception.  we had so much fun naming them all but there was one, lonely little egg that needed a name. can you name the egg?  TWO winners will be chosen ($75 gift certificates to Three Sisters!).  The winners will be randomly chosen.  You can enter once or multiple times – the more options you try, the better your chances!  Deadline is Wednesday, April 7th.  Have fun!

yes, it’s give-away time!  that means free jewelry!  who can resist?

the topic for this give-away is “sharing.”  i must say “share” about 50 times a day to my kids.  share this, share that.  sigh.  it gets tiring – but it’s the right thing to do, right?

well i have to admit there are some things i like to share and some things…well, NOT!  these are the things i like to share: hugs and kisses with my kids, chips and salsa with friends and memories with niels.  here are some things i don’t like to share:  my favorite chocolate truffle bar from trader joe’s, my last bite of a carne asada burrito and my tooth brush.

as you know, i was recently in vegas.  lisa and i played black jack at imperial palace and the guy sitting next to me told me that he had a four month old daughter and a two year old daughter.  he said his wife was in minnesota with his daughters and that she was probably tired because the baby had recently been sick.  i could relate.  so i told him i would send his wife a necklace gratis – her treat for holding down the fort.  i did and it felt good to share!

then yesterday, i bought a chocolate bar at trader joe’s while shopping with all three kids.  i slid it into the basket, stashed it in the cabinet at home and waited for them to go to bed.  after they went to bed, i stealthily crept into the kitchen, pulled it from its hiding place and gobbled the whole thing up in two seconds flat.  yum!  i felt guilty for not sharing with my kids…but it sure was delicious.

Never did I realize how hard it would be to pick a winner!  I read Zoe’s blog everyday and in all the contest entries, surely I see who the winner might be.  But when the rubber meets the road, not so easy after all!

After much thought and consideration, I pick Shari B’s entry!  I love that she takes all her “comfort” pieces with her.  All three of her “go to” items are part of her day to day, a piece of home to travel with.  So comforting to have the familiar with you when in not such a familiar place.  Not to mention, I can’t live without dark chocolate myself!

march – so much fun already and it’s not even here!  i have so many things to look forward to – most importantly my mother-daughter trip to san francisco with jette (can’t wait!), a few birthday celebrations for moi already in the works and then a spur of the moment trip to vegas with my photography partner, lisa (check us out – www.lisaandzoe.com).  that means i get to dress-up a lot in march and that really excites me!  when lisa and i decided yesterday that we really should go to the WPPI photography convention in vegas in two weeks the first thought that crossed my mind is “what am i going to pack?”  so sad – not “what i am going to learn.”  oh well, i don’t get out much.  but i have three “go-to” items that i always pack when i go someplace fun and funky.  what are your top three items to pack?  c’mon – what’s in that suitcase?  deadline is saturday, february 27th!  what do you win?  a $60 gift certificate to three sisters.  yeah!

our guest judge this time was my beloved hubby, niels.  he’s part of my duo – me & him.  so he seemed like a logical choice to judge this give-away.  how many great entries were there?  a TON – i loved each and every one.  so thoughtful, inspiring and fun to read.  niels decided it was a tie – between erin and ted stafilatos.  the husband and wife duo who entered with their unique entries.  although both were unique and fun entries,  niels thought they were the winners because he appreciated that erin liked ted’s quirky entry.  others may have stopped their significant other from writing something silly, but erin didn’t.  they make a great team, an obvious duo!  congrats to you two – please e-mail me at zoe@threesistersjewelrydesign.com for your gift certificate code!

valentine’s day makes me think of pairs…of teams…of yin and yangs.  of course big, red glittery hearts also fly through my mind on valentine’s day – but it’s really about complimentary pairs.  i started thinking – pencil and paper, fishnets and stilettos, sushi and wasabi or even toenails and polish.  yes, valentine’s day is not necessarily for lovers.  but for the concept of a complimentary pair and how it feels to love something (or someone else) and know it’s just “right.”  this thought hit me as i scooped up olives and cheese at the olive bar at our local grocery store.  ideas can happen at the strangest moments.  how yummy feta and olives go together.  they look pretty together (white, green and black), they taste extra salty together and well…they are meant to be paired.  what a concept.  what’s your favorite duo and why?  let us know…we really, really want to know.  the winner will receive a $60 gift certificate to Three Sisters.  Deadline is Thursday, February 18th.  Who can resist that?  Happy Valentine’s Day – we “heart” you!  xx, Three Sisters Jewelry Design
